100% RE is a fallacy and economic insanity.

Reality will force ideology to change. Hopefully before too much damage is done.

"But one thing is certain: policymakers who base their decisions on flimsy calculations like LCOE are doomed to fail".

Why should they care, since they have no skin in the game? At worst they can get away with their scam for years, then retire with a hugely generous pension paid for by the shivering taxpayers.

Nice picture of Moss Landing. Isn't that the place that was set on fire by lithium batteries on January 16, and still hasn't been extinguished as of today - over a month later? Basically because it can't be extinguished - all the fire fighters can do is evacuate people and watch. https://lookout.co/moss-landing-battery-plant-fire-reignites-but-is-under-control-fire-chief-says/

I was (somewhat) amused to read that "Local authorities expressed concerns regarding the release of hydrogen fluoride and other hazardous materials".

Great article. It reminds me of the old quote by Edison: 'A good intention, with a bad approach, often leads to a poor result.' By politicians focusing only on certain aspects of 'green energy' and not the whole package— as you explained in your article— it does not look that 'green' anymore.

Yes, it’s quite nuts, actually. German politicians are already starting to copy Trump’s ideas almost word for word (without ever referencing him) in their election campaigns. Maybe the unachievable net-zero dogma will be dropped in due time as well.

You’re almost right. It's actually 99 cents per kWh. Thanks for catching that! It’s been corrected!
